A great start to the season for new cricketers

There’s plenty to smile about across our junior program, with improvement right through the age groups and even more new recruits joining the maroon and gold this season! The growth in numbers and enthusiasm around Centenary Park has been fantastic to see.

Our U12C side has kicked off the year strongly, notching up a few impressive wins and showing great teamwork and development each week. Meanwhile, our Blasters program continues to grow, with plenty of young Lions learning the game and having fun out in the middle.

A big thank you to our coaches, parents, and volunteers who make junior cricket possible — your efforts are helping build the next generation of Bentleigh Uniting cricketers!

The fifths are back on the track!

It’s been an exciting start to the season for our senior men, with a fifth team added to the lineup — a fantastic reflection of the club’s growth and depth. The energy around the rooms has been buzzing, and there’s been a great mix of results across all grades to kick off the year.

We’re thrilled to welcome back club favourites Hugo Ferdinand and Brad Dolman, whose experience and enthusiasm have been a huge boost for the group.

A real highlight this season has been seeing junior players make their senior debuts, with Archer Jane, James Norsworthy, Bodhi Duke, and Ethan Jowett all stepping up to represent the maroon and gold at senior level. Their performances and attitude show that the future is bright for Bentleigh Uniting.

Here’s to keeping the momentum going as the season unfolds — go Units!

Time to build momentum...

It’s been a stop–start beginning to the season for our senior women, with weather interruptions, bye rounds, and public holidays limiting game time through October. As a result, the 1XI will head into November having played only one match, while the 2XI have recorded one win and one loss to start their campaign.

The 1XI made the most of their lone outing, producing a convincing away victory over Richmond, showing plenty of promise for the rounds ahead.

We’re also pleased to announce some exciting leadership appointments — Sarah Burke will captain the 2XI, with Kiara Jane stepping in as Vice-Captain. Both bring great energy, leadership, and commitment to the women’s program as it continues to grow in its second season.

Here’s hoping for some clearer skies and more cricket as we move into November!
