A 68 year old record was smashed as 2 Uniting bats went berserk against Chelsea Heights/Aspendale. In trouble at 5/130, Big Dog Glenn Lalor joined Young star Luke Manders at the crease, the crowd was then witness to an amazing display of crickets as the angry old dog smashed 157 not out including 21 fours, 5 sixes and a windscreen twice, Luke’s inning was a classy 105 not out. Both bats have scored over 300 runs already this season. The unbeaten 227 run partnership bettered the 1956 record and Glenn’s score the second highest Longmuir score beating Chris Manakis 156 and behind only Noel McPhersons 192. Our final score, 5/356.
The second XI have a chase ahead of them after Moorabbin West made 278. Yongsters Hugo Ferdinand and Micky Hargood bowled well and old skunk Pete Manakis grabbed 3 cheap wickets.
The 3rds were in real trouble at 5/38 then 7/65 but two guys with plenty of heart dug in and saw us to a total of 168. Big Al Ernst 37 runs and hardworking Dave Bregazzi unbeaten on a great 56. We struck back to have Highett West 1/1, Dave Bregazzi the man again.
The 4ths had a great team effort to score 209 with Prof 38, Rory Drummond 49 runs in an inning dedicated to his mum Daragh for her birthday, and Doc Still broke his 2 year run drought with 31. (Katie assures me the other drought still continues).
Ever have trouble sleeping? Then watch Mackie bat!! Mackie dismissed for a slow 115 with all bowlers contributing in the 5th Eleven.
The U/16 boys dismissed Hampton for 45 with Hugo 3 and Lachie Still 2 wickets each, we are 1/26 in reply. The U/14 boys collapsed for 88 but fought back to have McKinnon 1/11.
I don’t have completed u/12 scorecards but check website for scores.
