ROUND REPORT - ROUND SEVEN WEEK ONE
Longmuir
After the losing the toss and being asked to bowl at Centenary, Hugo dismissed one of the visitor’s with the score on 38. Brighton Union steadied from there, ticking the scoreboard over to finish on 6/278. All the boys bowled big spells, with Hugo and Buddhika claiming two wickets each, while Malin continued his great form with another scalp.
Quiney
The twos also lost the toss and bowled, with Cameron getting the first breakthrough in the first over of the day. Hampton Central knuckled down from there and took the score to 61 before Mick Debono dismissed the host’s high-priced Pom for 41. Charlie Davidson, in his maiden Quiney appearance, also took a wicket in his first over and he fellow youngster Ethan Manakis showed they belonged at the level. Mason Martinez (2/37) impressed in his first game for the season, while PD and Rob Aitken also did their bit. The boys are confident they can chase down 238.
Thirds
Heading to Herald Street to face Le Page, the boys won the toss and elected to bowl, and it paid immediate dividends, with Liam striking with the score on nine. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as the hosts were dismissed for 194 thanks to a brilliant performance from a young and exciting attack. Chocolates (3/49), Ben Radlow (4/48) and Josh Swann (2/24) combined brilliantly in what is a great sign for the future.
Fifths
Trialling the SECA’s new split innings format against South Side East Caulfield, the boys knocked up 6/78 off their allotted 28 overs, with eccentric veteran Johnny top scoring with 29 not out. In return, the visitors are 5/83.
