Round Seven, Day One Recap 2018/19

Round Report: Round seven - week one

Longmuir

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the boys were on the back foot early, with Washington Park taking three quick wickets. Enter young guns and eligible bachelors Bryce and Trent, with the dynamic duo quickly turning a once perilous situation into a full-blooded blitzkrieg. While Janszy was as elegant as usual with seven fours in a majestic 65, it was Trenta who really had the Packer Park people packing their dacks. In a devastating display that lasted exactly 150 minutes, boundaries were struck (9), pickets cleared (4), 104 runs made and many admirers won. Then came the cameos, with renowned ladies man Cal Cathcart chiming in with 30, while Poms Shorty(15) and Jason (18) also made valuable contributions in an imposing score of 274.

Quiney

While the toss of the coin went their way, not much else did for the boys against traditional rivals Omega. Only Dirty and Campbell made double figures with 19 each in a score of just 65. In return, the visitors were 0/67 at stumps. Plenty of work to do this week, boys.

Thirds

Sent in by St Andrews Gardiner, young guns Stilly and Joey got the boys off to a good start by compiling 13 runs each. When the youngsters made way, the veterans got going, with skipper Dave and Gill upping the scoring in the only way they know how. The scoreboard ticked over at a rapid rate until injury intervened, with Dave sustaining a serious hamstring tear on 38. While he was forced to retire, Gill continued on his merry way for a well-made 57 in a score of 9/162. For the record, Chris Elkins made a 🦆.

Fourths

The boys travelled to the wide expanses of the Princes Hwy Oval for a much-anticipated clash with league leaders Oakleigh Districts. In what's becoming one of the SECA's most reliable and destructive opening combinations, rising star Rohan and evergreen Davo quickly had the hosts searching for answers. But with the score on 99, the latter was caught on the fence with a dirty slog for 75. Ro kept the scoring purring along with a well-crafted 29, until three quick wickets, including skipper Britty's absolutely plum LBW, saw the need to regroup. Charlie Davo (42) and Dougy (43) put their hands up and rolled up their sleeves, combining sensationally for an unbeaten 86-run stand in a fantastic score of 5/223.

Fifths

Mackie couldn't muster a team, so the boys get the points and another two weeks off😏
